I'm Andrew Buck, an AI/ML researcher specializing in computer vision and autonomous systems. I graduated with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri in 2018 and continued to work at MU as a postdoc and an assistant research professor until 2025. My most recent research was with Dr. Derek Anderson's MINDFUL lab, where I focused on developing autonomous drone systems, including generating 3D maps from a monocular camera and using simulated environments with Unreal Engine and AirSim. I've also taught an introductory course on Computational Intelligence and worked with the Center for Geospatial Intelligence (CGI) and the Center for Eldercare and Rehabilitation Technology (CERT). My past projects have included explosive hazard detection, multi-objective pathfinding with uncertainty, and scene matching using linguistic spatial relationships. I'm interested in many cool research areas, including developing intelligent agent algorithms using LLMs and reinforcement learning, autonomous drone and robot navigation systems, and 3D visualization techniques utilizing AR/VR technologies.
Feel free to explore my website to learn more about my work, publications, and projects. If you'd like to get in touch, please don't hesitate to reach out via email or connect with me on LinkedIn. I'm always open to discussing new ideas, collaborations, or opportunities!
